So I’m a web designer, and…
…I am not a Bay Area native. Having spent all my life in Chicago, I came to the conclusion in December 2007 that it was time for a change. By February 2008, I had sold most of my earthly belongings on Craigslist, shoved the rest into my car, and spent 35 straight hours driving to California through the strangest winter weather I have ever experienced. When I got here, I couldn’t believe I had actually moved. It felt so impulsive…and awesome!
I have been freelancing at least on a part-time basis since late 2001. After graduating from DePaul University with a degree in computer science, I freelanced full-time for a few months before becoming the lead web developer at A-Three Services Agency in Northbrook, IL. I then left for Accenture, where I have been an IT security consultant and occasional web developer for over two years. My goal is to be in some web-related role (web/interaction design, IA, UI/UX, etc.) full-time in the next year.
When not designing web sites or living the consultant life, I cook and blog about food. I also like typography, comedy, architecture, and music. My last name is Spanish for “good trip” and people never fail to remind me. So I chose my domain name to beat everyone to the punch line
